尼克隊主將藍道（Julius Randle）今日在比賽中受傷退場，不僅為球隊季後賽之旅埋下隱患，也引爆了外界對教練錫伯杜（Tom Thibodeau）的批評，逼得他必須親上火線澄清。

在稍早比賽僅剩下兩分半、尼克已落後騎士隊23分的「垃圾時間」，錫伯杜並未選擇將季後賽才傷癒復出的藍道換下，結果後者在灌籃時與艾倫（Jarrett Allen）發生碰撞並由背部著地，之後躺在地上過一段時間後，才起身走下場。

錫柏杜過往在執教公牛、灰狼隊時，便以「操主力」聞名，當年的「飆風玫瑰」羅斯(Derrice Rose)就是因此重傷凋謝，今天又重演垃圾時間未提前換下主力，間接導致藍道傷退，使得這個罵名再度浮出水面。NBA名宿米勒（Reggie Miller）便在轉播時說道，「藍道跟布朗森（Jalen Brunson）現在完全沒有待在場上的理由。」

作為剛出爐的「NBA球員最不想效力的教練」，錫伯杜賽後為自己澄清，讓藍道待在場上是出於本人意願，「我其實那時候打算將他換下場，但他想要在場上多打幾個回合，以幫助自己抓到節奏。」藍道也在之後證實這件事，並表示自己的背沒問題，將在第三場比賽回到麥迪遜花園與對手碰頭。

在輸掉這場比賽後，尼克與騎士戰成1：1平手，藍道的背部著地是否對他造成阻礙，將影響勝利天秤朝哪方傾斜。

Julius Randle said his back is fine. He said he asked to stay in the game late in the 4th quarter to get his legs/rhythm after missing two weeks due to ankle injury.
